E.P. Men, 19 and 46, Charged With Domestic Violence Against Girlfriends

East Providence police charge them with simple assault and disorderly conduct.

Two East Providence men face domestic-violence charges involving their girlfriends, according to police.

Matthew E. Rodyn, 19, of 94 Hartford Ave., and James P. Spader, 46, of 502 Bullocks Point Ave. in Riverside, were arrested last Thursday, July 18, and last Wednesday, July 17, respectively.

Rodyn allegedly slapped around and pushed to the floor his girlfriend, 17, after they got into a verbal argument about 2:30 pm. The physical confrontation reportedly started after she started gathering up some personal belongings to leave his apartment.

The arrest report alleges that he began throwing her things around. She alleges that the physical assault was not the first time he has abused her, according to the arrest report. 

Rodyn was charged with domestic simple assault and domestic disorderly conduct.

Spader allegedly smashed the face of his girlfriend, 29, into a wall several times about 3 am. She reported to police that he had returned home after drinking and they got into a verbal argument. 

The verbal fight soon escalated into him throwing things around the apartment and abusing her, police said. She suffered a small injury to her forehead, according to the arrest report. 

Spader was charged with domestic simple assault and domestic disorderly conduct.
