East Providence is ranked in the top third of most violent communities in Rhode Island, according to analysis conducted by golocalprov.com.
The study used 2012 crime statistics released by the FBI earlier this week.
Out of 37 Rhode Island communities that report crime data to the FBI, East Providence ranked 11th highest.

Of the 104 violent crimes reported in East Providence for the year, there were two murders and non-negligent manslaughters, 13 forcible rapes, 14 robberies and 42 aggravated assaults.
Nationally, the number of violent crimes increased 0.7 percent over the previous year, according to the data.
