Lunch Box Sets Off Post Office Bomb Scare
Members of the Rhode Island Fire Marshal's Office sent in a robot to investigate the container.
A strange package left outside a U.S. Post Office on Grove Avenue, across from the East Providence City Hall, mobilized members of the Rhode Island Fire Marshal's Office Thursday afternoon.
At about 2:30 p.m., the East Providence Fire Department received reports that an insulated lunch box was left outside the building, according to Captain Oscar Elmasian. Members of the office suited up and sent in a robot to check out the package.
The package turned out to be full of icepacks, said the captain. The owner was not located.
