East Providence police arrest man and charge him with felony assault by strangulation.

An East Providence man, 31, was charged late Monday night, July 1, with felony assault for allegedly strangling his wife, 29.

Keith E. Britto, 31, of 212 Summit St., was charged by East Providence police for reportedly grabbing his wife’s neck with two hands, lifting her off the ground and then throwing her to the ground in an open closet.

The alleged attack came after a verbal argument that started a couple of hours earlier and escalated. She had left the house with their 9-months-old son and then returned when he reportedly threatened to change the locks.
