Man Charged After Waving Around Pellet Gun Modified to Look Like Handgun

A Pawtucket man allegedly threatened to shoot everyone unless his hat dropped during an earlier fight was returned to him.

A Pawtucket man, 23, was charged with disorderly conduct by East Providence police on Saturday evening, July 27, after he allegedly threatened to shoot everyone at an East Providence home on Gurney Avenue unless they returned his hat.

Justin M. Rose, of Melrose Avenue, reportedly returned to the scene of an earlier altercation with a resident of the home with a pellet gun modified to look like a real handgun, according to East Providence police. He apparently lost his hat during the earlier fight.

Rose allegedly waved the gun around while making his threat. Police officers at the nearby Santa Maria festival and on duty elsewhere responded to Gurney Avenue for the second time Saturday evening. That initial response was called for by the reported fight going on at the home.

Rose was arrested and taken to the police station for processing. The pellet gun and a “buck knife” Rose was carrying and an expandable baton found at the Gurney Avenue home were seized. It is not known who dropped the baton.

Rose also was given a no-trespassing order to stay away from the Gurney Avenue home or face a separate charge.
