Man Upends Boxspring, Charged With Domestic Violence

On Jan. 6, at 12:09 a.m., East Providence officers were called to a Grosvenor Avenue address, arresting a city man who allegedly moved furniture with a woman still on it.

When officers arrived, they spoke with John G. Pina, 47, who said he had just had an argument, but it had not been physical.

A woman in the home said while the two were arguing, Pina had begun pulling the home's bed apart. When she sat on the box spring to prevent him, she said, he wrenched it up, throwing her to the floor. Other occupants of the home confirmed her version of events.

The officers arrested Pina, charging him with domestic violence and domestic disorderly conduct.
