Paintball Vandals Shooting at Rumford Homes

Several homes in the West Drive area of Rumford in East Providence have been the targets of paintball attacks.

Vandals have been aiming their paintball guns at homes in the West Drive area of Rumford in East Providence. 

East Providence police received several reports last week, on Tuesday, July 9 and Thursday, July 11, from West Drive neighbors who said their homes were shot at with yellow paintballs.

The Tuesday report came after a 28 West Drive homeowner said he heard what sounded like “rocks” hitting the side of this house at around 11:45 pm on Monday. He found the remnants of three yellow paintballs on Tuesday afternoon along with some damage to his siding.

The West Drive man said he also had chatted with several other neighbors who were targeted by the paintball vandalism but did not report it to the police. They simply washed off the water-based paint from their homes. 

The Thursday vandalism was reported around 8:13 pm by a 38 West Drive homeowner who said paintballs splattered windows in his home a few minutes eariier.

A red SUV or Jeep-like vehicle was seen driving away from the neighborhood soon after several of the attacks, the police report indicates.

The reports are being investigated. Call the police department with any information.
