Police Called for Man in Basement Find Court Scofflaw

Cranston man wanted for failing to appear on illegal weapon charges.

East Providence Police were called to a Burgess Avenue home Jan. 1 by a woman who said her son's father was staying in her basement and was making her nervous.

The officers learned the man, Jerome McIntyre, 30, of 113 Wilbur Ave., Apt. 2, Cranston, was wanted on a warrant for failing to appear on three counts of possession of an illegal weapon other than a firearm, which he pled no contest to in 2012.

But McIntyre wasn't at the home when they first arrived. The woman said he had been sleeping in the basement, and she was not comfortable with him there.

At 10:03 p.m., McIntyre returned, and the officers arrested him on the warrant.
