Police Called to Local Dumpster for Woman 'Looking for Antiques'

On Oct. 8 at about 10:21 p.m. East Providence Police were dispatched to the 95 Oak Crest Driver for a report of an intoxicated woman in a dumpster there.

When officers arrived, they found a 57-year-old woman standing in a dumpster nearby the address, according to officer William Dubois' report. As Dubois approached her, he noticed much of the contents of the dumpster had been strewn about the street.

Dubois asked the woman what she was doing, to which she replied that she was looking for antiques". Dubois asked the woman to step down from the dumpster to speak with him, immediately noticing a strong odor of alcohol on her breath and person, according to his report.

The woman had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and no logical explanation for her dumpster-related activities or how she had wound up at that location. Dubois determined the woman was intoxicated to the degree that she was a danger to herself and others, and took her into protective custody, transporting her to RI Hospital.
