Police: EP Woman Drove Drunk, Wrong Way on Interstate 93

33-year-old allegedly caused two crashes and ended up hitting a snowplow.

The Massachusetts State Police have charged a 33-year-old Rumford woman with driving under the influence, assaulting a police officer and other violations after she allegedly drove the wrong way on Route 93 and caused two crashes before crashing into a snowplow.

The state police said Brenda Jarillo was driving north in southbound lanes on Route 93 from Quincy to Boston at around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

An East Boston man spun out of control and crashed trying to avoid Jarillo's car. He was treated at Quincy Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.

A short time after the first crash, Jarillo continued going the wrong way and eventually crashed into a Mass. Dept. of Transportation plow and finally came to a stop.

The plow driver wasn't injured and told police he was trying to stop Jarillo by beeping his horn and flashing his lights.

In the end, Jarillo is facing charges of DUI, assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, negligent operation, a wrong-way violation, assault with a dangerous weapon, a lane violation, failure to stop for police and leaving the scene of an accident.

Jarillo pleaded not guilty in Dorchester District Court this afternoon, the Boston Globe reported, and she was eventually released on $3,000 cash bail.
