Police Log: Ride To Providence In Exhange For Pot Ends In Jail

Driver, passenger arrested for possession of same four ounces of marijuana.

On June 25 at 5:19 p.m., officer John Cote pulled over the car driven by Ryan Cullen, 25, of 26 Lebrun Ave., apt. 1, after he neglected to observe the stop sign at the corner of Arnold Street and High Street.

Unfortunately for Cullen and his passenger, Charles Dasent, 34, of 119 Sunnyside Ave., apt. 3rd floor, he also neglected to keep his vehicle free of controlled substances.

Cote reported that when he approached Cullen to ask for his registration and license, he smelled the odor of marijuana. A search of Cullen's car revealed 4.120 ounces of marijuana, according to Cote's report, worth about $100, under the front passenger's seat.

Cullen told Cote he picked up Dasent on Sunnyside Avenue in Woonsocket and drove him to Providence to pick up the marijuana. In exchange for giving Dassent a ride to get the pot, Dasent agreed to give Cullen $20 worth of it.

Both men were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana. Cullen was also charged with driving while in possession of marijuana. Dasent also had a warrant out of Sixth District Court.

Big Shit it's only pot not like it was booze or and open container. Let the cops have their fun until it is over for it will not be a criminal offense AS OF APRIL 1ST 2013. So tell the police to chill out it is a lot better than dealing with a drunk. People are just more civilized when smoking pot. After next year we are going to send out and get signed a partition to make it legal to smoke for one 3 day Holiday a year. We are going to shoot for Autumfest weekend to share our new rights as Normal Folks with all our friends for all around the world. Lets face it, it is not ever century that this American or state government gives the people back a right to make the own decisions without trying to force them to comply.

oh geez Maxin you been hitting the bong one too many times .... learn how to spell will you! Makes your argument look like people should think twice, it's petition not partition... pe·ti·tionnoun 1. a formally drawn request, often bearing the names of a number of those making the request, that is addressed to a person or group of persons in authority or power, soliciting some favor, right, mercy, or other benefit: a petition for clemency; a petition for the repeal of an unfair law. Partition noun 1. a division into or distribution in portions or shares. 2. a separation, as of two or more things. 3. something that separates or divides.

@ MAXIN; you make a very good point on smoking pot. trust me its a right ! and yes it will more tolerated in the future. i cant stand the smell of it. know hundreds of people smoking it. one thing i do know, the more you smoke the stupider you get. ive seen that also. its all you think about, cant live without, cant stop talking about. it becomes your world. I dont care, just keep it away from me. one medically proven fact, its 20 time more dangerous that cigarettes. who cares, i dont !! smoke all you want, if any of your friends smoke or do other drugs, i dont care.!!! just dont claim the world is not fair, or you dont have enough money in your next welfare check. keep in mind you dont have to pay 800 a month for your free insurance, and no copays. your right, the government should not make me comply on having to pay for people like you. you win !!! but would agree with me that it would be nice to pay your bills once in a while with your own money that you earn. ill agree its less harmful to others than drinking.
