Pup Stuck in Grill Reunited with Owners

A dog that got stuck in the grill of a Toyota Camry and survived an 11-mile ride from Taunton, Mass., to East Providence, was returned to its owners yesterday.

Suzie could otherwise be called Lucky.

The small poodle mix got wedged into the grill of a Toyota Camry and survived an 11-mile ride from Taunton, Mass., to East Providence.

Yesterday, the dog, which had been kept at the East Providence Animal Shelter as it recovered from only minor injuries — amazingly — was returned to its owners after they saw her on the news.

Animal Control Officer Evan Barlow said the owners ran down to the shelter to reclaim the dog and provided convincing evidence that the dog was theirs, including paperwork that showed a number that matched a microchip implanted in the dog.

The owners declined to be identified.

Suzie was struck by a car on Route 44. The driver apparently didn't realize the dog was wedged into the grill until another motorist flagged him. The driver then went to the East Providence Police.

Suzie suffered a slight concussion and lost a tooth. Otherwise, the dog has been given a clean bill of health.
