Morning commuters were only treated to light snowfall this morning, but the resulting slippery roads were blamed for several fender-benders.
East Providence Police reported 14 crashes between 6:30 and 9 a.m., according to a report from the Providence Journal. Roads were still cool from recent temperatures in the 20s, combined with the snow, quickly turned streets slick, the Journal reported.
A light wintry mix is forecast for the afternoon through 5 p.m., but temperatures are expected to be in the 30s. Rain is expected to continue through Saturday, but temperatures will climb into the 40s and 50s and stay that way for the Monday commute.
