EP Police, Troopers, DEM, Search Seekonk River for Missing Man

Daniel Larue, 20, was last seen on Thursday at 10 p.m.

Yesterday, East Providence Police and State Police continued to search for a missing 20-year-old city man, turning their search to the Seekonk River.

East Providence Police Lt. Det. Michael David said that on Wednesday morning, officers from the East Providence Police Department and the Rhode Island State Police searched an area of the Seekonk River in response to a lead in the missing person investigation. Members of the RI Department of Environmental Management Marine Unit also assisted in the search.

"Our efforts were greatly hampered by the weather and heavy presence of ice in the river.  We are hopeful that a more complete search can take place in the near future as the weather improves," David wrote in response to an e-mail query.

RI State Police divers assisted the East Providence Police Department in a search of the Seekonk River yesterday, according to a report from EastBayRI.com.

Larue, described as a thin man, 6 ft. tall with very short blond hair and blue eyes, was last seen at 10 p.m. Jan. 2 wearing a turquoise beanie-style hat, black and gray plaid jacket, gray button-down shirt with jeans and brown dress shoes.

David said that out of respect for the privacy of LaRue's family and to maintain the integrity of the investigation, he could not comment further on the search.

Police ask anyone who has seen Larue to contact Lt. Det. David at 401-435-7600.
