Wallet Tug-Of-War Ends Amicably

East Providence Police responded to a Wanissett Ave. home for a report of a domestic disturbance involving a man and woman struggling over a wallet Dec. 5 at about 4:19 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found 22-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman, a couple who had recently split up. They told officers that they had met in her car to speak about the relationship. However, once the woman returned $15 owed to the man, he left in his own vehicle.

The woman called the man, who returned to continue speaking with her, but during the conversation she took his wallet from the center console to take back the money she'd returned to him. As she did, the man grabbed hold of the wallet, and the two began a tug-of-war with it. Finally, the woman said she was calling police, and the man let her have his wallet.

A witness and both parties said the altercation was not physical. The woman returned the $15 to the man a second time, according to the report, to avoid any further trouble.
