Woman Wakes to Front Door Closing, Car Missing

On Dec. 12 at 1:49 a.m., East Providence Officer Charles Walkup was called to an apartment at 860 Waterman Ave. for a report of a stolen car.

Walkup met with the 33-year-old woman reporting the theft, who told him that she had woken up and seen the doorknob to the main door to her apartment turning, as if someone were just closing it, according to Walkup's report.

The woman told Walkup she had thought she was seeing things because she had just gotten up. When she went to the kitchen, however, she saw the keys to her car were gone, and when she looked outside, the car was gone, too.

She said that though the car belongs to her ex-boyfriend, she makes the payments. She said the car had not yet been registered, and had temporary license plates on it.
