Budget Commission Meets Again on Personnel Issues

The East Providence Budget Commission meets tomorrow, Aug. 22, in City Hall to continue handling personnel matters only.

The Budget Commission meets again Thursday, Aug. 22, in East Providence City Hall to go over a handful of personnel matters -- including the bargaining agreements for the East Providence Education Association.

The meeting starts at 3 pm in Room 306.

The Budget Commission continues to serve only to handle personnel issues -- a duty that began soon after the commission stepped aside in late March as the financial manager for the city.

The commission does have a request from City Manager Peter Graczykowski to relinquish control of personnel issues even as it seeks to hire a fiscal advisor for the city before leaving for good.

Mayor James Briden asked the board to return just to handle personnel matters after the city manager put the police chief on administrative leave pending an investigation of allegations made against him by other officers. The Budget Commission returned the police chief to his post after saying it found no substance to the allegations. It has continued in its limited role since that time.
