Two days before hosting a Housing Resource Fair, Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI) toured the this morning and discussed housing issues with residents and management, according to a press release from his office.
“I was grateful for the chance to visit and talk about the issues facing our country with the folks here today,” said Cicilline. “Rhode Islanders in every city and town have felt the impact of the recent housing crisis, and I am working hard to make sure they have access to the tools and resources they need.”
As an active member of the House Democratic Caucus Task Force on Housing Stabilization, Cicilline has worked during his first term in Congress to make affordable, healthy and safe housing a reality throughout Rhode Island. Cicilline strongly opposed Republican efforts to eliminate the Neighborhood Stabilization Program and other foreclosure mitigation initiatives.
This Saturday, Feb. 25, Cicilline will host a at East Providence High School, which is located at 2000 Pawtucket Avenue in East Providence.
Rhode Islanders attending the Housing Resource Fair will have the opportunity to learn about resources and assistance available for those struggling with housing issues, particularly those facing foreclosure proceedings or the threat of foreclosure, individuals having difficulty paying a mortgage or rent, information regarding resources for housing improvements, weatherization programs, and other agencies that provide housing assistance. Representatives from leading banks, federal agencies, and non-profit organizations will also participate.
