How Would You Grade East Providence’s Snow Plowing This Winter?

Give your praise, voice your concern and let the town know what you think about snow plowing this winter.

The past three weeks have seen one snowstorm after another barrel up the east coast and dump more snow onto the area.

Plowing snow is often a thankless job. There is rarely praise, but there are few things that raise a person’s ire more than snow-covered streets days after a snowstorm has passed.

With us now deep into February and after three weeks of snowstorms, we want to know: How would you rate East Providence’s snow removal this winter?

Let us know in the comments section below. Give your praise, voice your concern and let the town know what you think about snow plowing this winter

I would rate it an B+ Overall very good job...just a little more work at some of the intersections.

Sherri, I spoke to a very pleasant woman in the engineering office at city hall about the same concerns you expressed. She informed me that it was a gas company project for the apartment complex. Only about 100' of the project belongs to the City and the remaining 500' of is on the roadway through the complex which is not City jurisdiction. Unfortunately, she also informed me that the gas company was on it's winter shutdown and will continue with their work in the spring.

Sidewalks are not the cities responsibility. The business or property owner are responsible for shoveling their own sidewalks. Call City Hall and they will first be warned, then there is a system of fines in place for those that don't comply.

Im a little disappointed in the plowing done on my street. I watched the plow go up and down my street just one time, each side. they plowed just straight down the middle of the road. So after I shoveled my driveway, I also had to go and shovel about 5 feet of snow that was in the street because they come no where near the property lines. And I think the city should go around and take note as to how many people do not shovel sidewalks and they should give them 1st a warning and then 2nd time they have to pay a fine. Its terrible when you see little kids that have to walk in the street. My Mother is going to be 80 years old and she still to this day will shovel her sidewalk. No need for sidewalks to be snow covered. Bruce, you say there is a system in place?? Does the city actually enforce it? because by the looks of it I don't think they are enforcing it. I would have to say 80% of the sidewalks remain snow covered. :( That is really sad...
