Security Hired to Patrol Pierce Field

The budget commission approved a request from the Parks and Recreation Department to hire a temporary security guard.

The budget commission approved a request from Parks and Recreation Department administrators to hire a temporary security guard to curb vandalism at .

According to Alba Curti, director of the department, a seasonal employee is needed to turn on field lights so patrons who paid for permits can use the field at night. The Little League season will soon begin. 

In addition to facilitating local sports organizations, an employee is also needed to patrol the grounds as suspected youths have been breaking into restrooms at night and spraying graffiti.

Mayor Bruce Rogers said these issues have been plaguing the field multi-million dollar complex for "too long."
