Duarte Takes Over as E.P. Athletics Director
East Providence School Committee hires Bob Duarte as the schools' new athletics director; he started on Wednesday.
Longtime teacher and assistant athletics director Bob Duarte was confirmed as the athletics director for East Providence schools this week.
Duarte, 48, has been a history teacher for 25 years at the high school the assistant AD for 7 years. He started his new post on Wednesday, Sept. 25, according to eastbayri.com.
“It’s a kind of a dream come true for me,” Duarte said. “I didn’t think I’d ever get the job here in East Providence, so I’m just really, really excited to get started.”

Duarte replaces Paul Amaral, who resigned the AD post to return to the classroom as a health and physical education teacher. He also has been a track and cross country coach at the high school for almost 20 years. See the complete story by clicking here.
