E.P. High School Senior to Play With All-National Concert Band

Shondra Texeira will play her French horn in front of thousands in Nashville with the All-National Honors Concert Band.

An East Providence High School senior will perform in Nashville on Oct. 30 as part of the All-National Honors Concert Band.

Shondra Texeira has been selected as a member of the 2013 NAfME All-National Honors Concert Band sponsored by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). She will join more than 670 other talented high school students in the band. 

She will play her French horn under the baton of four prominent conductors in the U.S: Dr. Peter Boonshaft, Miriam Burns, Rollo Dilworth, and Rodney Whitaker. The 2013 NAfME All-National Honors Ensembles will perform for an audience of thousands in the Presidential Ballroom of the Gaylord Opryland Hotel.

Shondra is the daughter of Victor and Rita Texeira and sister of Taylor Texeira. To be selected for this opportunity is consdering "a once-in-a-lifetime experience for students and a testimony to their excellence and achievements," according to NAfME. "Their participation deserves the admiration and support of everyone in their community."

Shondra qualified first for their RI honor ensemble program and then competed against top students for a spot in the national honor ensembles.
