Refurbished High School Gymnasium Opened With Volleyball Win

The girls' volleyball team at East Providence High School christens the new 'Townie Project' gymnasium with a win.

The always successful girls’ volleyball team at East Providence High School won its second straight match of the new season on Monday night, Sept. 9. But the real star of the night may have been the gymnasium itself.

Fans got their first look at the refurbished gymnasium – the result of the successful Townie Project. See story on Patch by clicking here.

Dozens of volunteer raised more than $80,000 to pay for the white paint for the ceilings and walls, the red paint for the window frames, and the stripping and recoating of what had been a tired looking floor.
