Riverside Middle School Still Without Power
The power outage that started Sunday afternoon in the area around the school in East Providence continues.
Riverside Middle School remains closed today, Sept. 23, for an electrical problem in that village of East Providence.
"I just talked to the superintendent, said Patricia Iannelli, administrative assistant to Superintendent Kim Mercer, at about 1:30 pm. "Still no power."
The outage began Sunday afernoon, said Iannelli.
"It's outside the school," she said. "We had no choice" but to close the school.
Power to the neighborhood was expected to return by around noon today, she said. National Grid has been working in that area since around mid-day on Sunday.
School officials made the decision to close the school early this morning, she said. The school is expected to reopen on Tuesday.
