MLK Day, Pickup Delay, Council and Flu Shots

Happy Martin Luther King Day - here are some things you should be thinking about today:

Martin Luther King - Today is the national holiday honoring Martin Luther King. It's also a national day of service, a "day on, not a day off." The MLK Day of Service is a part of United We Serve,  calling for Americans from all walks of life to work together to provide solutions to the country's most pressing problems. How are you going to serve?  

Trash delay - Due to the short holiday week, On Monday Jan. 20 in the observance of Martin Luther King Day; rubbish pick-up for the week of Jan. 20 to Jan. 24 will be delayed by one day. 

City Council Tuesday - The next City Council meeting is Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall, 145 Taunton Ave. We'll update this post as soon as the agenda is available.

Flu Clinic Wednesday - The Dept. of Health has strongly encouraged Cities and Towns to offer flu vaccination clinics are flu cases, in particular H1N1, are on the rise. Accordingly, the City will host a clinic on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 5-8 p.m. at the Senior Center. 

Everyone aged six months and older can receive a flu shot at this event.
The strain of flu that is most prominent this year is H1N1. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have observed that this strain is disproportionately impacting children, young adults, and middle-aged adults this year.
