Monday Essentials: City Council Wednesday, Festival Thursday

City Council Wednesday - The East Providence City Council meets Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. at City Hall,  145 Taunton Ave. They'll hold a public hearing on the City's $166,614,251 budget, which no longer includes a plan to consolidate the Recreation Department and Senior Center.

Harvest Festival
- Children's Workshop,  an early learning center at 411 Narragansett Park Drive, Rumford, hosts their Harvest Festival Thursday, Oct. 24, 5 p.m. featuring pumpkin carving and pumpkin painting. Enjoy some snacks and light refreshments. Costumes are highly encouraged, but not required. This event is free and open to the community.  

Chamber networking lunch - This month's East Providence Area Chamber of Commerce lunchtime, networking event will be held at 2 Pauls' City Grille in East Providence.

Meet local business people and bring lots of business cards for exchanging. Everyone gets time to present a 60-second commercial about their business.

Non-members are invited to attend at the Chamber member rate of $20 per person and learn about the special offer available to businesses that join the Chamber during the New Member Campaign (Oct. 15 - November 15.) Registration is required by Noon on Monday, Oct. 21. Strong Man Contest  - 
Think you're strong enough to enter a Strong Man Competition? 212 Health and Performance at 20 Newman Ave., Rumford, is holding theirs Nov. 2. Test your strength and help a great cause: seventy-five percent of all proceeds are being donated to the K-Rob Foundation. Call Kerry Taylor 401-383-5959.

Foster Care Info Night - The Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families and Foster Forward are hosting a Foster Care and Adoption Information Night Thursday, Oct. 17, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Foster Forward, 55 South Brow St., East Providence. DCYF staff, foster, and adoptive parents will be available to explain the program and answer questions. The Information Night is open to anyone interested in exploring becoming a foster or adoptive parent for children in DCYF care.  Please stop by and learn how you can make a difference in the life of a child!
