Monday Essentials: Happy Columbus Day, Council Tuesday, Trash Pickup Delay

Columbus Day - Enjoy the holiday, but don't plan time for government offices or the local libraries - they're closed. Feel free to check out our list of long weekend events, though.

City Council - The East Providence City Council meets at 7:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, in Council Chambers at City Hall, 145 Taunton Ave.

Holiday trash schedule - All household refuse and yard waste collections this week will be delayed one day for the reminder of the week.  Regularly Monday collections will be Tuesday, Oct. 15, Tuesday will be Wednesday, Wednesday will be Thursday, Thursday will be Friday and Friday will be collected on Saturday.

Foster Care Info Night - The Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families and Foster Forward are hosting a Foster Care and Adoption Information Night Thursday, Oct. 17, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Foster Forward, 55 South Brow St., East Providence. DCYF staff, foster, and adoptive parents will be available to explain the program and answer questions. The Information Night is open to anyone interested in exploring becoming a foster or adoptive parent for children in DCYF care.  Please stop by and learn how you can make a difference in the life of a child!
