Monday Essentials: 'Restaurant Week'; Fun in Libraries

Here are some things you should know about this week, Aug. 19-25, in East Providence: 

  • The week looks mostly sunny with temperatures in the low to mid 80s each day.
  • The East Providence Area Chamber of Commerce sponsors the “Great Taste of Summer Restaurant Week” this week; click here for special offers from participating restaurants/food venues.
  • The Riverside Branch Library, 475 Bullocks Point Ave., continues its Cinemazing Summer Film Series today, Aug. 19, at 6:30 pm with a showing of “42” -- the life story of Jackie Robinson and his history-making signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers.
  • Dioman and his dinosaurs visit the Weaver Library, 41 Grove Ave., on Tuesday, Aug. 20, at 2 pm for a high energy show that features fun, incredible props, and life-size dinosaurs.
  • The East Providence City Council meets at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, Aug. 20, in the Council Chamber in City Hall.
  • The Toe Jam Puppet Band visits Weaver Library on Wednesday, Aug. 21,  to present some hands-on, active children's entertainment that grown-ups enjoy too.
