Two Delway Avenue residents got into a fight after a woman found onion-like weeds on her property.
East Providence Police advised two neighbors to stop fighting after one allegedly threw lawn rubbish on another's property. According to reports, police responded to Delway Avenue on Wednesday, May 2, to find a man and woman involved in a verbal altercation. The woman allegedly found "tuberous weeds" that looked like wild onions on her property. She then reportedly threw the weeds on a neighbor's lawn, with some landing on a shed roof. The two neighbors then allegedly got into the argument; the male neighbor reportedly used profanity in front of young children. Officers then told the residents to ignore each other. Alfredo Conde Estevao was arrested under two governor's warrants out for his arrest from Philadelphia for allegedly causing an accident that resulting in injury or death.
An East Providence man was pulled over by police in Sudbury, MA, on Sunday and then arrested under warrants for allegedly causing an accident that resulted in injury or death. According to reports, a call to the Sudbury Police Department regarding an erratic driver resulted in the arrest of Alfredo Conde Estevao, 26, of 7 South Carpenter St., after he was pulled over on Boston Post Road at about 10:46 a.m. on Sunday, May 13. Barrington police were called last Wednesday evening to question a young man getting out of a row boat at a private dock in Barrington who used the vessel without permission. The man admitted it was not his boat, which is owned by a Warren man. He said “the current in the river was too strong” and he could not return the boat to the other side. He was looking for a ride back to his cousin’s house. Barrington police said the man was from New York and was visiting a cousin in Warren. Captain Elmasian reminds people to clean lint traps using a vacuum to avoid fires.
Firefighters responded to a house fire at 4 Sherman Ave. early Friday morning after material ignited in a dryer. About three fire trucks responded to the scene at about 6:45 a.m. The six people living in the home safely exited the building; there were no injuries, according to Captain Oscar Elmasian. The first-floor kitchen area of the single-family home was damaged, according to the captain. The blaze was discovered after a woman reportedly saw a light haze of smoke in one of the rooms and then found a fire smoldering in the dryer. Matthew Stuttard, 26, of 124 Waterman Ave. in East Providence, was charged with firing a handgun in a compact area after he allegedly shot a bullet through a residential house.
East Providence Police officers arrested a Waterman Avenue man on Saturday, May 5, after a bullet shot from his .357 Magnum in his apartment traveled through a neighboring house and almost hit a teenage boy playing video games. Matthew Stuttard, 26, of 124 Waterman Ave. in East Providence, was charged with firing a handgun in a compact area at approximately 1 p.m. According to Captain Richard Frazier, he was in his second floor apartment showing a friend his the revolver when it went off. Seekonk police said Monday that the man who killed himself in the parking lot behind the old Showcase Cinemas on Fall River Avenue with hydrogen sulfide was Thomas Walsh, 60, who lived on Edward Avenue in Rumford, R.I. Walsh left a note confirming his death was a suicide, a press release from the Seekonk Police Department states. Fire Chief Alan Jack said Friday that he believed the death was a suicide. Walsh was found in his 1985 Pontiac Grand Am by three Seekonk boys who were bike riding in the lot. Posted on the vehicle were notes stating that there was poisonous gas in the vehicle, the doors should not be opened and somebody should call 911. One of the boys called authorities. Man run over trying to stop drunk driver An allegedly drunk driver pulled into Metacomet Country Club in East Providence and one vigilant citizen decided he would not let him leave. Following the erratic driver's Dodge into the country club parking lot, the man stood in front of the vehicle to take down his license plate number and corral it until officers arrived, according to police. That's when the drunk driver allegedly drove his vehicle into the man's leg, breaking a front light and sending the him onto the hood of the car. A man was hit by a Dodge while attempting to barricade a drunk driver in a Metacomet Country Club entrance until help could arrive.
East Providence Police arrested a drunk driver after he allegedly drove his Dodge into a man who tried to corral the vehicle off Veterans Memorial Parkway until officers arrived on scene. According to police reports, at about 7:27 p.m. on April 28, a man started following Richard Macedo after witnessing him almost run another car off the road with his erratic driving. The witness watched Macedo pull his older model Dodge into Metacomet Country Club. He stood in front of the way to get a license plate number and call the police.
