Friends Honor Memory of Murder-Suicide Victim
The memory of Amber Arruda, a mother of two who passed last October, was honored by coworkers during the Walk to End Domestic Violence.
Friends of Amber Arruda, who was shot by her husband in their Hazmat Avenue home before he took his own life, say the mother of two was than a statistic. That's why Veronica Reis and Maria Duhamel, both fellow employees of Amber's at Women & Infants Hospital, walked in the first Walk to End Domestic Violence held at the Rose Larisa Memorial Park on Saturday, May 5. "I didn't want my friend to die in vain," said Reis, wearing a purple shirt adorned with a purple butterfly to symbolize transformation. The fundraiser for the Rhode Island Women's Center drew about 70 members of the community. Some wore signs with loved one's faces printed.
