Barack Obama Re-Elected President

President Obama defeated Republican Mitt Romney in the 2012 presidential election.

President Barack Obama and Vice-President Joe Biden were re-elected Tuesday night, defeating Republican challenger Mitt Romney and his vice-presidential running mate Rep. Paul Ryan. NBC News called the presidential election for Obama around 11:15 EST. The president sent a message on Twitter at 10:14 saying simply, "This happened because of you. Thank you." The Obama campaign won the most expensive presidential race ever, with both parties raising about $2.6 billion. The race was filled with negative campaigning on both sides, from President Obama attacking Romney’s business experience with Bain Capital to Romney lambasting Obama’s handling of the economy. The race tightened during the final months of the campaign, with gaffes and surges …

Yvette, look, you are attacking my patriotism because I don't think like you do, because you perceive me as, horror of horrors - a liberal. Barack Obama Wins Rhode Island

Voters in Rhode Island on Tuesday cast their ballot for Barack Obama, giving him the state's 4 Electoral votes.

Barack Obama won Rhode Island’s 4 electoral votes on Tuesday, defeating Republican Mitt Romney. The Wall Street Journal along with the Associated Press has called the race in Rhode Island declaring Obama the winner. In the 2008 presidential election, the state voted for the Democratic candidate, and since the 1990s has voted for the overall winner of the presidential race 3 out of 5 times. Romney and Obama did not campaign aggressively in Rhode Island. The state has typically been a Democratic stronghold in recent presidential elections.  The economy was a key issue for many voters in the state.

President Barack Obama and Gov. Mitt Romney squared off in the third and final presidential debate on Tuesday, Oct. 22. Here's how Rhode Island Republicans and Democrats reacted.

As we entered the final presidential debate Monday night, both parties were looking for a clear victory. But according to our Rhode Island political influencers, neither party felt their candidate was the dominant winner in the debate. That's the major finding of the Red and Blue Rhody flash poll sent out to local political influencers immediately after the debate ended Monday night. For the third and final time President Barack Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney came face to face for a presidential debate on Monday night in Florida. Joe, Joe, Joe... you have this lack of insight problem - most Libertarians do. The fact is that you are all in constant denial that your half-baked theories are wrong; wrong for our government, wrong for our society, wrong for this era. You said that you're not partisan? I say you're a liar! Everything you said betrays your partisanship. Libertarians are always Republicans (why is that, I wonder…   more ›

FLASH POLL: Who Won the Obama-Romney Debate, Round Two

President Barack Obama and Gov. Mitt Romney squared off in the second presidential debate on Tuesday, Oct. 16. Here's how Rhode Island Republicans and Democrats reacted.

Rhode Island Democrats are more confident this time around in President Obama's debate performance over the first, while state Republicans feel former Gov. Mitt Romney's debate performance was less encouraging than the first.  That's the major finding of the Red and Blue Rhody flash polls sent out to local political influencers immediately after the debate ended Tuesday night. Obama and Romney faced off on Oct. 16 at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y. in a town hall format, with CNN's Candy Crowley moderating a debate that covered both domestic and foreign policy. At the conclusion of the debate, Patch surveyed 52 Republicans and 51 Democrats, asking who they thought won the debate. Among those who responded, 61% of the Republicans …
