Firefighters Put Out Dryer Fire on Sherman Avenue
Captain Elmasian reminds people to clean lint traps using a vacuum to avoid fires.
Firefighters responded to a house fire at 4 Sherman Ave. early Friday morning after material ignited in a dryer. About three fire trucks responded to the scene at about 6:45 a.m. The six people living in the home safely exited the building; there were no injuries, according to Captain Oscar Elmasian. The first-floor kitchen area of the single-family home was damaged, according to the captain. The blaze was discovered after a woman reportedly saw a light haze of smoke in one of the rooms and then found a fire smoldering in the dryer.
