Body Found Along Shoreline Identified

An autopsy has confirmed that the body is a Providence man reported missing and a possible 'bridge jumper' on Nov. 9, according to East Providence police.

The body found on the East Providence shoreline on Sunday, Dec. 9, has been positively identified as Thomas M. Sullivan, 46, of Providence. East Providence Det. Capt. Richard Frazier said Sullivan was reported missing and a possible "bridge jumper" by the Rhode Island State Police on Nov. 9. His body washed up on the shoreline along the East Bay Bike Path near the Squantum Association in East Providence. A walker found the body around 8:30 am. "We think we know who it is," said Frazier on Monday. An autopsy completed by the RI Medical Examiner's office confirmed the identity of the body on Wednesday, he said. Man Breaks Into House Through A/C

Providence man faces several charges after he broke into his ex-girlfrien's East Providence home through the window that holds the air-conditioner.

An East Providence woman got quite a surprise last Sunday evening, Oct. 28, when she spotted her former boyfriend crawling through a window in her home that holds the air conditioner. The 7:15 pm break-in led to several charges for the Providence man by East Providence police, including violating a restraining order and domestic breaking and entering. The woman spotted Jairo A. Hernandez, 25, of Webster Avenue, as he was crawling through the opening. She called the police right away. East Providence patrol officers responded to the Evergreen Street property, which the woman left after spotting the man. They found Hernandez hiding in a bathroom when they searched the apartment. Assault With Halloween Decoration

East Providence police charge a Jenks Street man for striking a man who came onto his property with a Halloween decoration.

An East Providence man, 50, was charged with assault last Saturday, Oct. 27, after he struck a Seekonk man with a Halloween decoration. Police described the incident as a continuing dispute between neighbors. Domingo Domingues Sr., of 51 Jenks St., allegedly struck John K. Sousa, 44, after Sousa walked onto his property and asked that a car on Jenks Street be moved. Sousa was visiting a family member who lives next door to Domingues. Domingues told police that he felt threatened by Sousa because of an incident in September that involved Sousa and two other relatives. Domingues admitted to police that he struck Sousa with some type of stick. Sousa told police he wanted to prosecute. Sousa also was charged -- with willful trespassing for …

ATM Card Scammers Sought by Police

This man allegedly used an East Providence resident's bank information to program a fake bank card which was used to withdraw money from an ATM in Providence.

An ongoing scam involving fake bank cards programmed with stolen bank account information has an East Providence connection and the East Providence Police Department is asking for your help. The man pictured here walked into the BankRI in the Turks Head Building in Providence recently and used a counterfeit card at an ATM. The card contained information from an East Providence Residents' Navigant Credit Union account. The suspect widthdrew an undetermined amount of cash from the ATM using the victim's information. A man who looks similar and wearing the same hat appears in surveillance video taken from an ATM at Coastway Community Bank in East Greenwich. Man Allegedly Beats Up Girlfriend

An East Providence man faces a domestic felony assault charge.

An East Providence man, 31, faces a domestic assault charge after allegedly beating up his girlfriend early Tuesday morning, Oct. 9. Daniel D. Jordan, of 300 Waterman Ave., was arrested about 5 am after his girlfriend contacted East Providence police, who responded to her call from Dunkin’ Donuts on Warren Avenue. Jordan was charged with domestic felony assault and larceny of a cell phone. He reportedly threw her to the floor during an altercation, which resulted in bruises to her arm and back and a swollen lip. Jordan was arraigned at the East Providence Police Station and released with a no-contact order.

Police Searching for Tool Thief

The East Providence Police Department is looking for a man they say broke into a trailer at Tabeley's Construction and stole a cache of power tools.

East Providence Police are looking for a man who allegedly stole several power tools from a local business recently. According to police, the man, described as being in his mid 20s with a crew cut, was wearing a black sweatshirt, light colored nylon shorts and black and white sneakers when he broke into a trailer at Tabeley's Construction at 802 Taunton Ave. The man reportedly pried the lock open on a storage trailer and stole six Hitachi roofing nail guns, a Rol Air Compressor, three roof harnesses, a Honda generator EB6500, a Hitachi circular saw, two Bostich N80cb-1 roofing nail guns, one Milwaukee sawzall and one Dolmar PB251.4 hand held blower. Bank Robber Left Child in Getaway Vehicle

Jenefer Gomes, 34, of 137 Oakcrest Drive in East Providence, was charged with robbing the Columbus Credit Union on Wednesday.

East Providence Police charged Jenefer Gomes, 34, of 137 Oakcrest Drive in East Providence, with robbing the Columbus Credit Union on Wednesday. She was also expected to be charged with child neglect as she left her three-year-old child in the truck she drove to the scene. She was taken into custody approximately three hours after the bank robbery, according to Captain Richard Frazier. Gomes is currently being held without bail at the Rhode Island Adult Correctional Institute (ACI).

Police Nab 'Bearded Bandit' at Route 6 Motel

The man was living with his girlfriend and a three-year-old child in a Seekonk motel.

Police believe they have caught the infamous 'Bearded Bandit,' responsible for a string of bank heists across the region. Following up on a lead, police apprehended a man staying at a Motel 6 in Seekonk, MA, according to reports from East Bay Newspapers. His girlfriend and a three-year-old child were living in the room with him, reads the article. Police believe his beard was a diguise to conceal his identity as they found a fake among his belongings. Police have refrained from releasing his identity.  East Providence Patch will follow up with this story.

Woman Cries Bomb During Reported Bank Robbery

Police are searching for a woman in a red Ford pick-up after she left Columbus Credit Union in Riverside.

A wigged woman claiming to have a bomb reportedly robbed Columbus Credit Union before police could arrive at the scene late Tuesday morning.  Employees called East Providence Police after she allegedly left in a red Ford pick-up truck, according to Lt. Craig Fournier.  No one was injured, he said. Employees were able to enter the building as of 12:30 p.m. Police vehicles and yellow tape surrounded the bank's entrance. For information regarding the case, call the East Providence Police Department at 401-435-7600. The case is under investigation.
