Edward J. Plouff, 89, Lifelong Red Sox Fan

The longtime Riverside resident's funeral will be held Wednesday from W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home in Riverside.

Edward, J. "Ted" Plouff, formerly of Bullocks Point Avenue, Riverside, died on June 8, 2013. He was 89. He was the husband of the late Ruth (Moreau) Plouff. Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Leon and Florence (Either) Plouff, he lived in Riverside for 68 years.  Plouff was a supervisor for Munroe Dairy for 42 years before retiring in 1985. A sports enthusiast, he was a devoted Boston Red Sox fan.  His funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 from the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home,  350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan's Church,  Turner Avenue, Riverside at 10 a.m. Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted. Yoshiko Tachikawa Garcia, 85

Yoshiko Tachikawa Garcia of East Providence passed away on Saturday, Dec. 8.

  Yoshiko Tachikawa Garcia of Wheldon Avenue, East Providence, passed away at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center on Saturday, Dec. 8. She was 85. Born in Tokyo, she was the daughter of the late Hidejiro and Kimi Tachikawa. She is survived her son Noboru "Bud" Garcia of Riverside, and two sisters, Kimiko Garcia of Rehoboth and Tamako Garcia of Maryland; eight grandchildren and many family members in Tokyo. Calling hours are scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 12 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Ave. in East Providence. A service will follow at 8 p.m. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island would be appreciated.

The Rev. Stanley Nakowicz, Pastor of Our Lady of Loreto, Passes On

Longtime pastor at Our Lady of Loreto dies on Monday, Dec. 3.

  The Rev. Stanley T. Nakowicz, pastor of Our Lady of Loreto Parish, East Providence, died on Monday, Dec. 3, 2012. He was 71. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Walter and Vera (Ricci) Nakowicz; he attended Graniteville Elementary School and  La Salle Academy.   In preparation for the priesthood, he studied at Our Lady of Providence Seminary in Warwick, RI, and at St. Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore, MD. He was ordained a priest at SS. Peter and Paul Cathedral in Providence on June 3, 1967 by the Most Reverend Bernard M. Kelly, J.C.D.   Upon ordination to the priesthood, Father was assigned as assistant pastor of St. Mary Parish, Crompton. Frank E. Pina, of Gemini Drive, East Providence, died Monday, Dec. 3, at the Evergreen House Nursing Center, East Providence. He was 65. He was the husband of the late Virginia L. (Roy) Charboneau. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Bernardino and Edna (Lamoruex) Pina. Pina had lived in East Providence for the past 22 years. He was a furniture mover with various companies for 40 years before his retirement. He was the father of Steven C.Charboneau and his wife Erica of Fall River, Curtis J. She was 71 years old.  She was the beloved wife of Robert R. Mason for 46 years and a daughter of the late Robert J. and Dorothy M. (McQuarrie) Faulkner. Dorothy was employed as a customer service representative and retired from Citizens Bank in Garden City in Cranston.
