Tussle Over Riverside Right of Way
Fences that block a longtime right of way to Crescent Beach have caused a neighborhood squabble that has dragged on for years.
Robert Frost, one of America’s greatest poets, once wrote that “good fences make for good neighbors.'” Not always in East Providence, according to today’s Hummel Report. Two fences are blocking a long-standing right of way to the water at Crescent Beach in Riverside. The barriers have caused a squabble between neighbors that has dragged on for more than three years. And it doesn’t appear that the end of the tussle over the right of way will end anytime real soon with the city apparently backing away from the disagreement. Jim Hummel takes a look at the right-of-way issue in this report, which has roots in the Rhode Island Constitution.
