The inauguration ceremony for the new East Providence City Council and School Committee is tonight at 7 in City Hall.
The Inauguration Ceremony for the new East Providence City Council and the new East Providence School Committee takes place tonight, Dec. 3, in City Hall. The ceremony will start at 7 pm in the Council Chambers just inside the front doors on the first floor. The Honorable Maureen McKenna Goldberg, a Rhode Island Supreme Court Justice, will swear in the newly-elected city officials, said City Clerk Kim Casci. A reception will follow the ceremony in the lobby of City Hall. The new City Councilors include four newcomers: James Briden in Ward 1, Helder Cunha in Ward 2, Christine Rossi in Ward 4, and Tracy Ann Capobianco in the At-Large seat. Congratualations to all! I arrived right when they announced Bridden would be the new mayor and I must say that was a relief. It feels good to see mostly new faces up there. On the School side, I looked around the room and I saw only one (mr. Furtado--who I had hoped would win) past School committee member at the ceremony.
