Bridge Reopens Year Ahead of Time

The North Broadway bridge at Roger Williams Avenue in East Providence reopened this morning; the original construction schedule called for closure until next November.

The North Broadway bridge at Roger Williams Avenue in East Providence opened this morning, Nov. 16, about a year ahead of the original construction schedule. Traffic resumed north and south after a crew from D’Ambra Construction finished up some work and removed construction barriers, said Bryant Lucier, a spokesman for the RI Department of Transportation. The $2.8 million project was a complete replacement of both the north and south spans of the Ten Mile Bridge, said Lucier. Originally, the construction timetable called for closure until November of 2013. “D'Ambra worked with the Agawam Hunt Club to get access to their property so they could work on both bridges at the same time,” said Lucier.
