Tavern Collecting Toys for Kids

The Oxford Tavern in East Providence has been collected toys for children served by the East Bay Community Action Program.

Hundreds of boys and girls of all ages across the East Bay will get hundreds of toys for Christmas thanks to a casual conversation at a tavern in East Providence. Alan Manchester, who owns and operates Oxford Tavern on Waterman Avenue, was talking to a customer who works at the East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) in Riverside. Fast forward a few weeks. Their chat has resulted in approximately 300 brand new, unwrapped toys being shipped to EBCAP last Tuesday, Dec. 4, by the woman whose chat with Manchester started the toy drive. The social service agency will be distributing those toys – and more to come – to the children in the towns served by EBCAP from East Providence to Newport.
