Services Set for Former Chief Justice
The former Chief Justice of the RI Supreme Court, Joseph R. Weisberger of Riverside, will be remembered on Tuesday, Dec. 11; his burial is Wednesday at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Joseph R. Weisberger, of Winthrop Street in Riverside, a former Chief Justice of the Rhode Island Supreme Court, died on Dec. 7, 2012, at Rhode Island Hospital. He was 92. Calling hours are on Tuesday, Dec. 11, from 3 to 8 pm at the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willett Ave. in Riverside. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 12, from the Riverside funeral home at 8:30 am with a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 10 am. Graveside burial with Military Honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery on the Wampanoag Trail. Weisberger lived in the Riverside part of East Providence for 56 years. Couldn't agree more with the above post. I met Judge Weisberger, decades ago with an old neighborhood school mate who also lived across on Winthrop Street. We were avid car fans of the 60's and the Judge would always give us a wave. Judge Weisberger was a gaint amongst the people and was always well respected.
