What's Open, Closed on Christmas?

The list of places open today is short, but you can get a prescription, gasoline and coffee.

It’s Christmas Day. The list of stores open today is pretty short. Of course, all government offices and the library are closed. And there is no mail service. Don't fret, though. A few stores are open if you need a few last-minute supplies, such as batteries, or you're feeling a little under the weather with a cold. You can also get a hot coffee or pastry if you don’t mind driving across the bridge to Warren or up to Providence. You can fill up your tank with gas for that trip to grandma's house. Here are a few places that are open today: CVS/Pharmacy: 640 Warren Ave., open 24 hours. Dunkin' Donuts:2371 Pawtucket Ave., 6 am …

What's Open, What's Closed Today?

Government offices, schools, libraries are closed for Thanksgiving; but most convenience stores and pharmacies and some restaurants are open.

Federal and state offices are closed as well, and there is no mail delivery. Some stores -- most convenience stores -- and restaurants are open, though. So, if you need a few last-minute supplies, or you need to fill a prescription, or you need a cup of coffee on your way to the football game, you can find it. And you can fill up your tank with gas for that trip to grandma's house. Here are a few of the stores that are open in East Providence today: CVS Pharmacy: 640 Warren Ave., open 24 hours a day. CVS Pharmacy: 583 Taunton Ave., 5 am to 8 pm. Rite-Aid Pharmacy: 655 Warren Ave., open 24 hours a day. …

What's Open, What's Closed Today?

All government offices, schools and libraries are closed today for the observance of Veterans Day; most businesses are open.

Today is the federal observance of Veterans Day, a federal holiday that recognizes the nation's service men and women.  All federal, state and East Providence government buildings and offices are closed today. There will be no mail service. East Providence schools and libraries are closed, as well. Check your schedule for trash pickup this week. Usually, when a holiday falls on a Monday or Tuesday, trash pickup is the previous Saturday. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday pickups are delayed one day. Most restaurant and stores will be open their regular hours today, but you might want to call ahead. Banks vary, but most are closed. The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority will operate under its holiday schedule today. To view schedules, click …
