112 Decorated Trees at WinterFest

The annual event is Saturday, Dec. 1, at the East Providence Senior Center complex off of Waterman Avenue.

It’s time for another WinterFest in East Providence on Saturday, Dec. 1. The Senior Center complex at 610 Waterman Ave. will come alive with a winterscape of “112 uniquely decorated live Christmas trees,” according to Alba Curti of the recreation department. Santa Claus will arrive by fire engine at 6 pm to illuminate the winterscape, Curti said, which will include “several replicas of city landmarks constructed by students and sponsored by merchants and other individuals.” WinterFest is much more than decorated trees, though. Starting at 9 am, an arts and crafts fair will open with special holiday gifts. At 3 pm, East Providence High School choral ensembles will entertain. Santa Cruises East Providence by Boat What: Pomham Santa is scheduled to make his annual boat trip along the East Providence. For the past four years, Santa has visited the area by boat to wave to children and adults along the shoreline. He can also be seen on the East Bay Bike Path when he visits "Lighthouse Cove" and Pomham Rocks Lighthouse in Riverside. Where/When: Pomham Santa and his elves can be seen from the beach at Rose Larisa Park on Bullocks Point Avenue around 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26. They will then travel down to Sabin Point Park on Shore Road around 10:30 a.m. to wave to people at the park. If the wind is calm, his hand bell and Christmas music can be heard coming from his boat.
