Marielle Segarra grew up in Levittown, New York and got her start in journalism writing for her high school newspaper, <i>The Phoenix</i>. While at Brown University, she wrote for the <i>Brown Daily Herald</i> and WBRU-FM in Providence. At WBRU, Marielle reported on local and national issues, such as gang violence in Providence, abortion in the health care debate, and a Massachusetts prison charging inmates room and board. She also produced profile pieces and interviewed local politicians, including Senator Jack Reed, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, Former Mayor Vincent "Buddy" Cianci, Providence Mayor David Cicilline, and Attorney General Patrick Lynch. Marielle graduated from Brown in 2010 with a degree in English nonfiction. She is currently a staff writer for CFO Magazine.
